With compelling storytelling and enchanting live music, Mandela Tales is an original production for children by its creator and composer, Artistic Director, Shirley J Thompson.

Mandela Tales is inspired on the book Nelson Mandela's Favourite African Folk Tales and features a number of delightful stories from across a variety of regions and traditions across Africa.

This heart-warming show is performed by special guest artists, Katrina Brown, Yolanda Grant-Thompson, Robert Mitchell, Eugene Skeefe, Shirley J Thompson, Byron Wallen and storyteller, Kerri Mclean.

An hour of music, words and action for Beano-lovers big and small. Beanotown is in crisis. Who stole the mayor's gold chain? Someone is trying to put the blame on Dennis and the grown-ups of Beanotown are declaring war on fun. We say the kids aren't guilty! Who's on their side? Children unite!

'It's difficult for anyone to create a genuine Beano "first" after nearly 74 years, but our friends at Southbank Centre have achieved just that. Dennis, Gnasher and their Beanotown buddies take menacing fun to a new level in a show that - like The Beano itself - is packed with kids' pranks, laughs and jokes. If the Beanotown grown-ups really have declared war on Dennis and co. it's fair to say they may have seriously underestimated their enemy! Awesome!'

Tall Tale Tours

Be guided around secret spaces and undiscovered places as you follow tales written by children for children. See live performances in unexpected locations at Southbank Centre.

Created by Telferscot Primary School in Lambeth, Lea Anderson and her company, and performers at Lewisham College.

Tours start at 12 noon and 3pm and last approximately 30 minutes.

Please note, there is a limited number of places on each tour and they will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis.

British Suzuki Institute Gala Group concert

Hundreds of children perform works from the Suzuki repertoire from Bach to Böhm, in violin, viola, cello, flute and recorder groups, and piano solos. The performers are from across the UK and are aged between five and 16.

When Spring Comes

Half Moon's new show for two- to five-year-olds fuses Kathak dance with live jazz in an enchanting world created by illustrator Amberin Huq.

The show features contemporary Kathak dance by Vipul Bhatti and live jazz trumpet by Sean Corby.

This 35-minute experience takes you to a magical woodland dell where time passes from one season to another.

Follow Adeel on his journey of discovery from summer into winter as he anticipates the coming of spring.

When Spring Comes is a play about loss and rebirth, exploring the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

After the performance, you can join Adeel and dance to the gentle jazz rhythms of the play.

When Spring Comes is a Southbank/Alchemy supported commission.

Charles Hazlewood, one of the UK's great conductors, and a man determined to 'give young people from all backgrounds the possibility of experiencing classical music' returns to Southbank Centre to get under the surface of an iconic and familiar piece.

The Southwark Youth Orchestra and the David Idowu Choir will join forces with the Philharmonia Orchestra to bring Dvorák's Symphony No. 9 (From The New World) to life. Together they explore the thrill of new and exciting places as well as how it feels to leave home behind.
